I Love America!

I Love America!   I am so thankful I live in this country. I don’t agree with all the laws the government makes or the taxes I have to pay, but I am so happy I am an American.

Patrick Smith – Navy

We enjoy so many wonderful freedoms.  My father-in-law, Patrick Smith, served in the Navy in WWII.  He fought for the freedoms we now enjoy.  At 90 years old, he is still active with the veterans in our community.

My Grandfather, Donald Figard also served in the same war.  As Tom Brokaw tagged them, “The Greatest Generation,”  that generation had a patriotism that exceeds anything we see today.  Perhaps it is because they were put to the test.  They had to

actualy fight for our freedoms.  They knew the price paid to enjoy all the liberties we enjoy without even thinking about it.

We take our freedom for granted.  No other country in the world offers as many freedoms as we have.

Two that I treasure most are the Freedom of Religion and the Freedom of Speech.   I enjoy being able to choose what church I wish to attend and to publicly or privately pray and worship.    My neighbor can attend a different chuch and no one is giving either of us grief.

Freedom of Speech is the one we all take for granted.  Recently there has been so much contraversy over Obamacare.  People speaking in favor and those speaking against.   Without our freedom of speech, that dialog would not be possible without persecution.

Our country is not perfect.  We have lots of things that need to be fixed.  Many people will spend their lives trying to fix our country.  Others have given their lives for our freedom.  The bottom line is, it is the best country in the world.  We all need to be thankful we live here and can enjoy the freedoms.  As we celebrate today we need to remember that FREEDOM is not FREE and we live in the  best nation in the world.

What do you love most about our country?  Tell me in a comment.

Happy Birthday America!

I as well am thankful for our freedom of religion and speech. I’m thankful that we can go and praise and worship, at the church of our choice, and do openly. I am proud to be an American, we are blessed with a beautiful country, that our Lord provided for us. I am also thankful for those that serve our country.
