Time to leave the ship. Since our suitcases with most of our things had to be out the night before, there was not much to get ready to leave the ship. Just throw our few things left into a bag and head to breakfast.
We enjoyed our last breakfast on the ship. Amazing to me how they can feed so many people and do it so well.
Leaving the Ship
Our time to leave the ship was 9 AM. Removing 3,000 people from a ship within an hour is a monumental task, but they do it very efficiently. Everyone has a time assigned and you leave the ship. You have to check out with your room pass as you leave.
We were off the ship in no time and then to the building for our luggage. We found everything quicky and then out to get transportation to the Marriott.
I used Lyft again to get a ride. Very economical way to obtain transportation.
Day Room at Marriott
Since our flight wasn’t till evening, what were we going to do all day with all our luggage? I found the answer. A day room.
Have you ever booked a day room? It is really a convenient idea. You book a room for 8 hours during the day.
You get to use all the facilities the hotel has to offer. Swimming pool, exercise room, etc. You have the room to take a nap, shower, watch TV, etc.
I had prebooked a day room at the Marriott Airport in Tampa. It was directly connected to the airport.
The hotel had a lovely outdoor area where people could relax, meet, eat, and enjoy nature.
Since it was connected to the airport when we were hungry we could eat in a hotel restaurant or go to the airport food court. We could also shop at the many shops in the airport.
Loved the hashtag, #sleepInFlyOut. This hotel would be great for an early morning flight because it was attached to the airport.
When we checked out, it was just a short few steps and you were in the middle of the airport checking our luggage.
Heading Home
We had a late evening flight home. The AirMarino van came and picked us up and took us back to their facility where they had our car started and warming and the snow all cleaned off. The trunk was open waiting for our luggage. I love that parking facility!
We started our 3-hour drive towards home around midnight. That drive wasn’t near as fun as going to the airport when we had the cruise to look forward to. We arrived home safe and sound at 3:15 AM.
Sadly our cruise vacation was over.
Cruising is a great way to travel and vacation. If you haven’t tried it, I encourage you to plan one in the future.
