Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Bungalows (Resort Review)

In June, I had the pleasure of visiting Scottsdale, Arizona and staying at the Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Bungalows.  I was there to attend Bloghouse Scottsdale, which was amazing.  I fell in love with this award-winning resort and wanted to share this review with you!

Andaz Scottsdale

If you plan to visit Scottsdale, be sure to put the Andaz at the top of your list for hotels.  Nestled in downtown Scottsdale, you would never know it.  You feel remote from all things that remind you of a city.

The Grounds were Gorgeous

The resort was peaceful with birds chirping throughout the property.  Everywhere you looked there were flowers, plants, and spots for relaxation on this urban oasis.

The Turquoise pool was large with lots of chairs, tables, and floating rafts to use.  There were also private cabanas to rent.

From most areas on the property, you have a beautiful view of the iconic Camelback Mountain in the background

Arrival at the Andaz

When I first arrived at the Andaz I was greeted with a cold bottle of water and a huge welcome.  The air conditioning in the reception area was inviting as well as the comfy couches and chairs.

Check-in was quick and efficient and then I was escorted to my bungalow.   A handsome young man loaded my luggage into a golf cart and took me to my room since it was a bit of a walk.

Individual Bungalows

The Andaz was different than most hotels.  Each room was like its own little townhouse.  All the bungalows were one floor and each had entrances in front and back and their own little patio.  There were four to six bungalows in each pod.

There were lots of trees and greenery throughout the 23-acre secluded resort and all around the bungalows.  You felt like you were millions of miles from the city.

Comfortable Rooms with Privacy

The Andaz has 185 bungalows.    Each bungalow was equipped with a desk, small refrigerator, 65” Wi-Fi enabled televisions, a safe, lots of storage, and front and back entrances with a small patio.  There were lots of windows to let in lots of light.  But they had privacy blinds that could be used and also room darkening blinds at both windows.

The Cattle Track Arts Compound is nearby.  The public areas of the resort and the bungalows are decorated with artwork inspired by the colorful palette of the desert and timeless design of Alexander Girard created at the compound.

The beds were comfortable with a variety of pillows and lots of lighting features around the bed and in the room.

Loved the Shower

The bathroom was large and the shower was a huge walk-in shower.  Not all rooms had this but many did.  The shower had perfect water pressure.  The hotel provided big, fluffy white towels.

I Enjoyed the Snacks in the Room

A foodie at heart, the snacks were a hit! Each room had a snack tray with a variety of delicious delights available.  Some were free and others were at a fee.  Just be sure to read the flyer so you know which are free and which you will need to pay for.

They also provided all kinds of drinks in the fridge.  Water, OJ, and soda were free.  All other items were for a fee.  I loved having bottled water in the fridge when I came back from a hike or a meeting.

Breakfast Overlooking the Pool

I’m not a huge breakfast eater, but I enjoy breakfast when I’m on vacation.  Eating breakfast overlooking the pool was an added treat.  The Weft & Warp Art Bar + Kitchen  in the resort had a wonderful breakfast menu and the pancakes with caramelized apples and berry compote and a side of bacon was a great start to my first full day in Scottsdale.

Andaz - Breakfast

The restaurant has an eclectic menu and serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late night snacks and cocktails.

I also enjoyed lunch at the pool restaurant.  A Ciabatta turkey sandwich and mixed fruit was the perfect afternoon meal.

Added Touches

The Andaz thought of everything a person would need.  Some of the extra items I found delightful were:

  • A small bowl of taffy on the nightstand that was refilled each day.
  • White robes to wear in the room or to the pool or massage area.
  • Sunscreen and Aloe  Vera Gell were available near the hotel entrance and in the pool area.
  • Fruit infused water available near the entrance and in the pool area.
  • Extras in the bathroom (nail file, makeup remover pads, etc.)

Other Amenities

  • The Palo Verde Spa & Apothecary where you can rejuvenate with a spa treatment, use the fitness center, take an exercise class, go for a private swim, etc.
  • Meeting rooms are available. Our meeting room was equipped with a small kitchen area, a large whiteboard, and tables in a rectangular formation.
  • Party area available with a lawn. (Our opening receptions was held here)
  • Cattle Track Arts Compound is nearby and they have artist programs available.

 Final Thoughts

There is a lot to love about this resort.  While the resort might not fit in your budget during high season, they have great summer rates.  The Andaz Scottsdale would be great for a couple’s vacation, girlfriend trip, solo retreat or even a family vacation.

The Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Bungalows gets a thumbs up from me!

Loved all the pictures you took of this beautiful resort, they really captured the essence of the place. How you describe everything in detail is also very helpful.
The concept of the resort having separate bungalows attracts my eye due to its uniqueness. I also appreciate that they had sunscreen and aloe “on tap”! Nice to see that this resort considers their guests with all these nice little extras – not something you’d find at a common hotel. Definitely looks like a sight to see. Thanks for sharing your trip!
