Our recent cruise vacation on Royal Caribbean’s Brilliance of the Seas was a fun time. The ship was beautiful and lots of fun.
Brilliance of the Seas
Brilliance is part of Royal Caribbean’s Radiance-class line of ships. The Radiance-class ships have over 3 acres of glass, glass exterior viewing elevators, over 700 balcony staterooms, two-level glass windowed dining rooms, alternative restaurants, a retractable glass roof over a pool, an outdoor pool, as well as the first self-leveling billiard tables at sea.
Built in 2002 and refurbished in 2018, it has the capacity of 2,501 passengers. There are 3 pools, 3 hot tubs, a mini golf course, basketball court, and so much more.
Rooms
Cruise rooms are rather small, but we had a king size bed, two nightstands, a loveseat, a vanity/desk area, lots of closet space and a bathroom with a sink, shower, and commode.
Our room was on Deck 4. We had inside cabins. I usually get inside cabins for a couple reasons: 1) less expensive (would rather spend my $$$ on shore excursions, photos, etc.) 2) We sleep better in inside cabins. The room is very dark and sunlight doesn’t wake us.
I have had ocean view cabins in the past and didn’t feel like it was worth the extra money. The room is the same size, it just had a window. If you can afford a private balcony room, they are very nice. But you also have increased cost. I prefer to cruise more often and for more days staying in a less expensive room. It is just a matter of personal taste.
Our Room
You will notice there isn’t a whole lot of room on each side of the bed, but enough to get in and out without difficulty.
Our loveseat had a little table in front.
This was the sink area in the bathroom.
In this picture, you can see the shower curtain and the commode.
Lots to See and Do
Brilliance of the Seas had walls of glass and glass elevators.
The above elevators surrounded the Centrum which is a central area on the ship where music groups performed, dance classes were held, and lots of fun happened.
The one side of Centrum was a rainbow lighted wall.
The Minstrel Dining Room is where we ate our evening meals.
This is a waterslide on the ship in the children’s area.
The ship had 3 pools. This is the children’s pool area.
This is the outdoor pool area. On the opposite end was a large screen for outdoor movies.
This is the solarium pool. It is filled with salt water. Several times during the week they empty and refill. When you are in the water it is easy to float because of all the salt.
We spent a lot of our pool time in the solarium.
Many ships are larger with full waterparks, ice skating rinks, FlowRider surf machines, etc.
