Today is the “Last” of a year of lasts! The last day of school. My son is a senior and today was it! Last time to head off to high school.
He headed off this morning dressed up for graduation practice.
He no longer rides the bus but drives his own car.
I’m sort of sad! Happy for him to get to this milestone! To achieve a goal and be prepared to move on to the next chapter. But sad that life as we know it will soon be changing. Sad that he will no longer be involved in all the extracurricular activities that have kept him happy and busy for the last six years. Sad that many of the supporting roles of band booster, party planner, etc. are coming to an end.
My son is not just graduating but I will be forced to move on as well.
This year of lasts has been fun and exciting as senior years usually are, but it has also been bittersweet. I will miss these days. Since today is the “last” of the “LAST,” a chapter in both of our lives is closing.
My advice to any of you with younger children, enjoy every grade, every stage, and every activity. Be involved and relish it, because before you know it, you will be in the year of “lasts!” When that year arrives, celebrate every single “last”!
