Anniversaries are such special things. Every year that people can stay married is something to celebrate!
In the world we live in today, too many people quickly cut their loses and move on to the next relationship. Divorce is so common that it seems there are more who have been through a divorce than those who keep their vows and stay married.
Tonight, I had the pleasure of celebrating one of those rare anniversaries. My aunt and uncle have been married 50 years today. Their children had a celebration for them this evening and I attended.
It was great to see them both so happy and enjoying the celebration. 50 years is certainly something to celebrate! I hope they enjoy many more years together.
My aunt enjoys canning and her family planned their anniversary theme around the “Ball Canning Jars” A unique invitation and decorations were used. In the picture below you can see the “Ball jar” cookie favors.
The centerpieces they used were made with Ball Jars and candles with pine. The desserts were a variety of homemade treats baked in “Ball Jars.” I had and orange-pineapple cake and my dad had an apple pie, while my mom had a brownie with strawberries and cool whip. It was a delicious and unique way to celebrate a special day.
It was also my father’s birthday. So it was great that he was feeling well enough to attend and I was able to get a picture of all the siblings in attendance.
I have an album of pictures from the event available on Facebook. Feel free to go take a peek.
Another Anniversary
Speaking of anniversaries, my parents celebrated their 54th anniversary on Sunday. My siblings and I are very blessed to have them as an example of being committed and making a relationship work. Through good and bad, sickness and health they have been there for each other.
So congratulations to them as well. Happy Anniversary to everyone who makes it through another year together!
