Chocolate Oreo Cookies, Vanilla Ice Cream, Cool Whip and Mint, what a great combination! My family loves this dessert. It is my husband’s favorite. Only 6 ingredients and you can make it with 5 if necessary. It is fairly simple to make and it will impress your family or guests.
Ingredients
1 large package of Chocolate Oreo Cookies
5 Tablespoons of butter or margarine
1 gallon of vanilla ice cream. (Preferably in a square block)
1 large container of Cool Whip
6 drops of mint flavoring. (I use Peppermint or just Mint)
6 drops of Green Food Coloring (optional)
Instructions
1. Set your gallon of ice cream out to begin thawing.
2. Spray cake pan with PAM
3. Crush large package of Chocolate Oreo Cookies. I usually put them in a plastic bag and then a second bag to crush. I sometimes use the rolling pin or you can even allow your kids to step on them. Need to be crushed fairly fine.
3. Spread 2/3 of the cookies on the bottom of the cake pan. Make sure the entire bottom is covered.
4. Melt butter
5. Drizzle butter over Oreo crumbs. Make sure all crumbs are wet. (I sometimes stir the crumbs and then pat them down on the bottom of the pan.)
6. Unpackage the ice cream and slick in 1/2 inch think slices.
7. Cover the oreo cookie crumbs with a layer of ice cream.
8. Sprinkle 2/3 of the remaining cookie crumbs on the ice cream.
9. Empty Cool Whip into a larger bowl.
10. Add 6 drops of Peppermint or Mint flavoring.
11, Add 6 drops of Green food coloring. (optional)
12. Stir and mix till color is consistent.
13. Taste the Cool Whip. You might need to add a bit more Mint. Usually 6 drops is plenty.
14. Once satisfied with taste, spread Cool Whip over the layer of ice cream and Oreos.
15. Sprinkle remaining Oreos on top of mint flavored Cool Whip.
16. Cover and Freeze till ready to serve.
17. Remover from freezer 5 – 10 minutes prior to serving.
ENJOY!
