Funny Toilets!

We Arrived!

We arrived in London around 10 AM.  First thing I noticed different in Europe from the US was the airports are not near as fancy!  But as long as the planes fly safely, I can live without fancy.

We collected our luggage and purchased “Tube” tickets and boarded the “underground” for our flat.

Yes, you read that correctly, “flat.”  We rented “flats” in London and Paris so we would have more room and to get a feel for living in Europe.  Neal is considering studying abroad in a few years and thought this would be a better taste of life than a hotel.

Checked In

One negative, we could not check in till around 2 and we arrived around 1, so went to grab some lunch.  At 2:00 we went to our place.  Not quite as nice as the pictures made it look, but we have three bedrooms, a kitchen, living and dining area and a tiny balcony.  And a bathroom.   You can see the place we rented, London Flat.

Bathrooms are Different!

Bathrooms here are a funny thing.  When looking for rentals, we noticed funny wording on the site, now I understand why.  The commode is in one small closet area and the sink/shower are in another.  Both are long and skinny….just like a closet.

Another post about the other differences at a later date.  But the bathrooms are funny!  And they flush funny.  Reminds me of toilets in a park or something.

More pictures of our place in London later.

We were exhausted from traveling all night and we all took an afternoon nap.  Then set out to look around and pick up a few groceries, and planned our day for tomorrow.   Planning to do a Big Bus Tour of the City!

Have you ever rented an apartment instead of using a hotel?  Was it a positive or negative experience?  Tell us about it.
