Talk about emotional days….yesterday was one of them! In fact the next couple weeks are going to be emotional.
Yesterday my 17 year old son left for a 10 day trip to Europe. He is traveling with his French teacher and 8 other students. They will be visiting France, Switzerland, and Italy. It is a trip of a lifetime and I’m sure he will have a marvelous time.
He has great map skills and has traveled a great deal, so I’m not concerned about him getting lost in the airport or anything like that. My biggest concern is that he will let half his clothes in some French hotel room. Or his passport or money.
This is the first time he has gone out of the country and the first time away for this long of a period of time. I’m sure he will be fine, but it is a challenge for me.
I’m sure this is the first of many challenges I will face over the next year as he starts his senior year, graduation, and then heads off to college. I’m sure he is ready for it all, just not sure I am.
So I know many of you have been in the same boat. What advice can you give me about getting yourself ready for letting go and the senior year? All comments will be appreciated.
