Have You Taken The 10 Year Test?

10 YearsWhile perusing the Internet I came upon an interesting post.   It challenged readers to take the 10 Year Test, to go back 10 years and ask the younger you what she would think of the YOU, you have become.   Through the eyes, dreams, aspirations and goals of  the 10 year younger YOU, would you like the life you have now, would you be impressed, would you be surprised?

So often we are so focused on looking forward and planning for the future we forget to look back and take inventory of how far we have come.

Terri Trespicio says:

Look around — at your job, your home, your handbag. What do you do all day, and do you like it? What do you carry around with you and do you need it? What’s in your fridge, your bathroom cabinet, your bank account? Chances are, you may be worth more (perhaps quite a bit more) than you were ten years ago. But weighing the money against your mood, what is it worth, and what is it costing you?

And now the big question: Is the person you are now the one you hoped you would be?

Many people are way too hard on themselves.   This test might help some of us to stop beating ourselves up.  Seeing how much progress has been made and how much has been  accomplished can improve self esteem.   Some may realize they have turned into someone their younger self would not have liked.  But it is still good to look at the change and grow from it.
