Green Beans, Almonds, and Bacon Casserole.

Green Beans, Almonds, and Bacon Casserole

A family friend shared this recipe with my mom, and she made it for us; we loved it, and now it has become a Christmas favorite along with the Marinated Carrot Salad.

This savory with a touch of sweetness and some yummy bacon is the perfect side dish for a holiday meal or a summer reunion.

Green Beans, Almonds, and Bacon Casserole

Ingredients

2 cans of green beans or fresh green beans

½ bag sliced Almonds

1 medium onion cut into rings

8 strips of Bacon fried  (Save the grease)

6 Tablespoons of sugar

6 Tablespoons of Vinegar

Instructions

Drain Green Beans

Place beans in an 8 or 9-inch baking dish

Mix ¾ of bacon and almonds into beans

Place the remaining bacon and onion on top of the bean mixture.

Put sugar and vinegar into the bacon grease.

Cook till sugar is melted, and pour over beans.

Cover with plastic wrap and put in the fridge overnight.

Back at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.

Note:  These are great reheated in the microwave.
