Do You Ever Feel Overwhelmed?

Do you ever feel you have just too much to do?   You don’t know where to start?  The more you think about everything you have to do, the more overwhelmed you feel.  Happens to me too!   How do you deal with it?

Sometimes it is my own doing, saying yes to too many things.   Other times it is things I can’t control.  Sometimes it comes from just trying to please too darn many people!

I have found that when I get in these moods, the following steps are helpful.

1. It is best to focus and make a list of everything I need to do.

2. Then prioritize.

3.  Then take the top item and break it down into small steps

4.  Work on the top prioritized items small steps till finished.

5.   When finished, move to the next item.

I know this sounds very simple, and it is.  But it is surprising how many people can’t or won’t do this. No matter how big a project is, you simply break it down into small manageable steps and slowly get things done and cross them off the list.   It gives you a great sense of accomplishment to see those items crossed off the list and it also gives you momentum to keep going and do more.

I have completed some huge projects using this method.  I use it for work projects as well as personal and social projects.
