3 Great Ideas for Fall Family Fun

You can have a great time just going for a ride and looking at all the colorful leaves on the trees but there are many other ways to enjoy this season. Here are 3 great ideas for fall family fun to help you get started.

Visit Your Local Pumpkin Farm

If you have a pumpkin farm in your area, it’s a great place to visit in the fall. In addition to seeing all the pumpkins that come in a variety of shapes and sizes, many of these farms offer fun activities that both kids and adults can enjoy. For example, some of them offer hayrides and allow you to walk around the farm to see the animals, while others have mazes that are both challenging and fun to go through.

Before you leave, purchase a few pumpkins so you can continue having fun once you get home. Each of you can pick out a pumpkin and paint a funny face or some other design on it. After painting all of the pumpkins, use them as Halloween decorations.

Take Part in Local Events

Another great way to have fun with your family this year is by going to some of the special events taking place in your area. There is usually something for everyone to enjoy regardless of your age. These include fall music festivals, BBQs, and many counties have an annual fair in the fall.

In my area we have the Saxton Fall Fest, Bedford Fall Foilage Festival, and the Hollidaysburg Pumpkinfest.  I plan to visit each of these events in October.

Watch your local news or check out the Sunday paper for information about upcoming events so you can see what options you have. You can also gather information about local events in your area by doing an Internet search.

Do Craft Projects Together

If you’re searching for a simple, quiet way to have some family fun this fall, pull out the supplies and do some craft projects together. There are many things that you can do with the colorful leaves falling in your yard. For example, you can glue them onto construction paper and color or paint designs around them to make a beautiful fall picture.

If your kids love to paint, collect some pinecones and acorns and then paint them all different colors. Cut a few ribbons different lengths and tie each one to a pinecone. Next, tie the ribbons together at the top and you have a beautiful fall decoration that you made together. Place the painted acorns in a decorative bowl and use them as centerpieces for your table or counter.

Don’t let the season pass you by without taking advantage of some of the fun and exciting things you can do together as a family. It’s a great time of year to create memories that will last a lifetime. Who knows, you may even start a new family tradition that your kids can share with their children one day, as they remember all the fun times you had together during the fall.
