I remember my Junior Prom. I remember the dress I wore, my flowers, decorating, and what a big night it was for my classmates.
Our prom was held in the school gymnasium. We spent days decorating and transforming it into a special ballroom.
I spent nearly $100 on one of my prom dresses and thought it was a fortune.
Things have changed.
Recently my son attended his Junior Prom. It is a big deal in our small community. The prom is held about 45 minutes away at the Lakemont Park Casino. (No Gambling there….not sure why it is called that) Anyway, half of the community makes the trip over the mountain to the Casino to watch the students arrive and enter the prom.
Prior to the prom, we went to a scenic area along the way to take some pictures. My son and his girlfriend looked great!
Here I am with my son.
Everyone stands outside to watch the students arrive.
Dresses are a lot different. Very few plain dresses. They all have sequins or something special about them. They also have a much bigger price tag!
So many beautiful dresses and tuxedos. The students all looked so nice all dressed up. Although I have to admit as I watched all of them arrive and walk around all I saw was $$$$$ flashing through my head. I would venture to guess that if all that was spent on the prom were added together, it would be well over $100,000. That is a lot of money spent on dresses and tuxedos.
They had a fun time!
