A neighborhood walk, 35 stops, each serving up something chocolate! Everything from brownies, ice-cream, and Hershey Kisses to Chocolate Whiskey Soup and dark chocolate with wine. We even enjoyed a chocolate scrub and chocolate body oil. It was an amazing day and a wonderful experience.
A Fun Day With Friends
Last Saturday, I went with some friends to participate in the Bedford Chocolate Walk in Bedford, PA. The event started at 11 and lasted till 3 PM.
Here we are ready to head out for some chocolate and fun!
This event was hosted by Downtown Bedford Inc. and 200 tickets were sold.
When you arrived you turned in your ticket for a map and card with all participating vendors and a bag to collect your goodies.
Everyone headed a different direction since the businesses were scattered around downtown Bedford.
My group’s first stop was at a Drapery Store that offered us Penn State Creamery Ice Cream. Death by Chocolate was the flavor I enjoyed.
5 O’clock Somewhere
Then we hit the Oak Spring Wine Shop and enjoyed some wine with dark chocolate. I think that was the first time in my life I have had alcohol before noon! But it was 5 o’clock somewhere!
Next, we were off to other businesses. Each provided us with information about their business and something chocolate. We had chocolate brownies, chocolate covered strawberries, chocolate covered pretzels, chocolate candy, chocolate chip cookies and more.
Willie Wonka
At various times throughout the day, you could see Willie Wonka walking the streets with his Oompa Loompas.
Some of us were on the street when he walked by and we had our photo taken with him.
More Businesses
We learned about businesses we did not know existed and restaurants we had never tried. Our group is hoping to make another visit soon just to shop at many of the quaint shops in Bedford. I personally want to return to the Golden Eagle Inn for more of their Chocolate Whiskey soup.
We had a fun and unique chocolate experience by painting with colored chocolate at the art gallery.
Here you can see our chocolate painting masterpieces!
We visited another wine shop, the Briar Valley Vineyard & Winery and learned about a new brewery, Olde Bedford Brewing Company, that will soon be opening.
Massage by Tiffany was part of the walk and she provided all different kinds of chocolate scrubs and oils for us to try. She also had wonderful treats that included chocolate.
As you visited each business, they checked off your card. All completed cards were turned in for a drawing for a $100 in Bedford Bucks. Also during the walk, a golden ticket was hidden with the chocolate. The person finding it won a Chocolate gift every month for a year.
We ended the day with a wonderful lunch at Bad Boyz Bistro in Bedford.
It was definitely a fun day and we hope to return next year. What could be better than a “Chocolate Walk”?
If you get a chance to visit Bedford, PA, stop and check out the many shops in Downtown Bedford. As they say, everything is “Better in Bedford.”
